Founded by Helga Buckle out of a genuine love for cats and the need for a safe, reliable cattery, we’ve created a calm, secure space where cats can settle comfortably while their owners are away.

Media updates

We share photos or videos via WhatsApp on request, so you can check in on your cat while you’re away. This is typically limited to one update per week depending on availability.

Our cattery in Gillitts is set within a quiet, natural environment, featuring warm, comfortable bedding and multi-level spaces that allow cats to relax at their own pace.

What are your operating hours?

We are open for drop-offs and collections on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and closed on weekends and public holidays.

Drop-off and collection times:
8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
3:30 PM – 6:00 PM

Fridays (extended hours):
8:00 AM – 11:30 AM
3:30 PM – 7:00 PM

What time is check-in/check-out? Can I arrive early or late?

Check-in time is from 3:30PM to 6PM and check-out time is from 8:30 AM to 11:30 am.

There will be an additional days fee for late checkouts, subject to hotel availability, and we do not guarantee the provision of a lodging space for your cat in this time (ie. they may have to wait in their carriers).

What are your rates?

Rates are charged per cat per day from 1st December 2024 at a rate of R200, including food, and R170,  excluding food. Discounts of up to 30% are available for long-term boarding and multi-cat families staying

How do I make a reservation?

You can book a spot for your pet to stay with us by using WhatsApp, making a phone call, or going to our contact page. If you need to make a booking quickly (within 48 hours), please call or message our us on 0824874176.

Can I view Gillitts Cattery before booking?

Yes, you may WhatsApp us at 0824874196 to schedule a viewing appointment.

Before doing so, we ask that you review all our FAQs and booking page to see if any of your concerns have already been answered.

What if I need to cancel or amend my reservation?

Please contact us via WhatsApp us at 0824874176 for modifications or cancellations pertaining to your reservation. Your request must be received at least 48 hours prior to boarding beginning.

Please also review our policies regarding modifications and cancellations below before contacting us or making a booking at Gillitts Boarding Cattery:

  • Reservations made for lodging during December are strictly non-refundable.
  • Modifications to reservations during non-peak season can be made free of charge, subject to cabin availability. 
What happens if my cat becomes unwell during its stay?

If your cat becomes unwell during their stay at our Gillitts cattery, we will contact you immediately and arrange transport to your preferred veterinarian. If you are unavailable, we will follow your pre-approved medical instructions provided during booking. (as instructed in our booking form)

Can we bring frozen and cooked meals for our cats?

We do have freezer facilities for the storage of frozen cat meals. However, we ask that the meals be provided in separately portioned-sized containers so that we can distribute them with ease. Additionally, please ensure that the package is labeled with your cat’s name and feeding instructions.

What should I pack for my cat's stay?

Will my cat interact with other guests during its stay?

No. Only cats that live together can interact with each other while they are staying here. This is to prevent fighting and germs from spreading.

How far in advance should I book my stay?

During peak periods, such as December, we encourage booking two months in advance of your intended reservation. These bookings will only be accepted once a 50% deposit is paid.
